The daily deals space is blowing up like crazy. Other than social discovery apps, daily deals has to be the hottest app platform out there right now. It’s getting crowded, but every once in a while something different comes along in the daily deals space worth mentioning.
7 Lunches is one of those things. With the hustle and bustle lives we all live these days, the cost conscious business professional doesn’t have time to comb through lunch specials on restaurant websites. They also don’t have the time to cruise down to their local hot spot to just “see” if there is a good special. We need to know the specials and we need to know them now.
That’s how co-founder and co-creator of 7 lunches, Ryan Maturski came up with the idea for 7 lunches. He was eating in a local sub shop in North Adams, MA and he told the owner that he should send his daily lunch specials out via email. Voila. Marturski and co-founder Jeff Lee set out to do just that, not just with the sub shop but with every restaurant that they could get to participate.
More after the break
Seven lunches has made it incredibly easy for the end user. It’s currently available as an email service and a mobile app for both Android and iPhone. The user just logs on and gets access to the latest specials. Now even though their name is Seven Lunches they also have dinner specials and even coffee shop specials that don’t necessarily have a full menu.
The specials can be about discovery and about the daily deal. As Lee explained to thisweekin:
“It’s more the “special of the day”, which can be a deal, or just something the chef is trying out or happens to be in season. Some restaurants don’t want to offer deals or coupons but they do offer a compelling price or cool experimental items. Ultimately, it varies from restaurant to restaurant and they can use it as they see fit.”
But the user experience isn’t the only part that Maturski and Lee have made easy. The restaurants themselves can choose how they upload specials. They can upload a daily special or enter the specials for the week or the month. Seven Lunches knows that restaurant owners are just as busy as restaurant customers.
The Mobile app finds the daily “lunch specials” using GPS so if you’re in Washington DC you’re not going to be inundated with specials from Boston,MA.
The other thing that we like about Seven Lunches, is like our friends at Venga DC, Seven Lunches takes the restaurant owner very seriously as they play a huge part in their business. Lee, who handles business development, has been traveling all over the country personally signing restaurants up for their exciting service. We’re not talking another restaurant/daily deals app that just uses API’s from Foursquare or Google Places, Seven Lunches is procured by a human being.
What are you waiting for go download the app right now and get your next lunch (or dinner) with Seven Lunches.
