While nothing is confirmed just yet, people close to both HP and Oracle are reporting that Oracle may be buying WebOS for just hundreds of millions. Yes, a far cry from the original buying price that HP bought WebOS from Palm at a price tag of 1.2 billion, that fact they can even find anyone to buy it is the real story. Until you read the small words…
Oracle who is a current legal battle with Google over Patents would love nothing better to pick up WebOS and all the Patents to prove a stronger push against Google states The Verg. However in the same story they are also claiming that Reuters is claiming that there are other companies interested as well. both HTC and Samsung have already said they wont be buying them, however with both using an alternate skin for Android, and WebOS built on Linux, why not blend them together to separate your self even more?
