Throwing a cocktail party and want a nice piece of art for your home? Are you having an open house at the office? Do you need a couple of nice pieces of art for prospective investors to look at your office before you can afford to go out and purchase them? These are all great reasons to check out New York based artsicle.com

Artsicle’s got a cute little name for a company that provides beautiful pieces of art for all of their customers. Artsicle isn’t in the business of brokering  6 figure pieces, they rent out their art collection for as little as $25 per month.

Being New York based gives Artsicle the advantage of being connected to some of the top emerging artists. The company uses those connections to curate beautiful collections.

When you go to artsicle.com if you’re interested in becoming a customer you’ll fill out  a short quiz which will help Artsicle understand your needs and tastes. After that they put together a personal gallery you can browse on your couch.

When you pick the pieces that you like you can rent them for $25 per month and all the while build up credits to purchase your favorite pieces.

Artsicle is the brain child of business partners Alexis Tryon and Scott Carleton. Carleton left his engineering job to become coding and developing the Artsicle website back in August of 2010. Tryon left her job at American Express to handle the front workings of the business. They  bootstrapped for a year out of the Dog Patch Labs accelerator in New York before moving forward with a seed round.

At the current time, Artsicle artists keep their works with them until Artsicle has a renter. At that time Tryon and Carleton insure the piece, pick up the piece and handle delivery to the renter. Right now the art is all from New York based artists however both founders are looking forward to expanding that reach.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s interior designer is an Artsticle member. Paltrow featured Artsicle in one of her newsletters which brought the company a lot of press and new members.

To check out Artsicle go to artsicle.com if you’re still not sure they provide their phone number throughout the website so you can talk with a curator on whether it’s how to determine your taste, artist information or just how the system works.

We first learned about artsicle from Start Up America if you’re a start up it’s definitely worth checking out.
