Google needs to take over ALL advertising of Android before carriers ruin the brand

With more and more Verizon commercials for the Droid line, and other companies creating commercials Google needs to step in and stop this. Or at lest protect its image from confusionness about its brand. Is it the in your face ball busting system the Verizon portrays in its Droid line up? Or is it the feminine brand that HTC did with the Rhyme. The general public while viewing both these commercials would be confused as to what Android is. What is it?

Google has made commercials before so this wouldn’t be anything new. They’ve done quit a few including this one for their Chrome OS with the Dear Sophia commercial which touched the hearts of many.

However, more and more the Android brand is being fragmented in its ideas of what it is. While in some spots this is a good thing, you have choices. However, companies are not doing a job of differing that its the phones that are either the balls to the wall or the nice simple ones.

While these are two different products, one can see the vast difference in the mind set that comes from different marketing companies. But it doesn’t end. How could you suggest a phone based on the commercial above to someone who has a poodle, a pink car and more hang bags then any department stores? You can’t, you also can’t show the commercial below to someone who works on a construction site and expect them to want Android any more.

Lets not even get into Sony Ericssons commercial for the Xperia Play…

 

With Android 4.0 being released, Google finally needs to step in and produce the commercials to show off the ecosystem and show what Android really is. You now have a beautiful layout and visuals on Ice Cream Sandwich, show it off. Maybe with Google showing off vanilla Android, manufacturer like HTC, Samsung, Motorola will stop trying to cover up the look with their own styles. Let everyone know what Android really is and not let Motorola and Verizon make it into this guys only club. Or HTC Rhyme it away to leave men saying I don’t want that.

Samsung is starting to do a better job in marketing Android and their phones in a way that everyone would want one. Not an in your face balls to the wall commercial in which they could do with that Eyxos processor they are currently using. But showing off what the phone and Android could do.

Apple does a great job in advertising both their phones and the ecosystem of the OS. It’s plain, simple direct and doesn’t try and force anything down your throat. It lets you know what it can do(Ok couple commercials lied about it) and the things it does well.  But what they do is they control there brand. They don’t let Verizon, ATT or now Sprint choice the marketing because they have a brand they need to control as to the image it portrays, and that’s what Google needs to do before they start to ruin the message.

 

So my personal request to you Google, take back the marketing, show off what Android can do and don’t let OTHER brands tarnish the name by confusing it as to what it is.
