There are a ton of startups these days entering the hiring and recruitment space. Most of them have to do with the actual hiring and recruitment process. There are startups like Houston Texas’s Job Plotter which helps applicants plot jobs on a map to know if they are close enough to their homes to apply. Another great startup in the job’s space is PitchPick an Austin based company that helps the pre-screening process with a video platform.
Pleekant is equally as useful to HR folks and recruiters. The London based startup provides a platform to better track job applicants. If you are running a good sized HR department you may have 20 positions open and hundreds of applicants to track. That’s where Pleekant comes in.
With Pleekant, companies can keep tabs on applicants, resumes, applications, notes and what position the applicant is applying for. Pleekant also makes it easier for recruiters within an organization to collaborate with each other. If your company has a multi interview process Pleekant makes it easy for each interviewer to keep their notes and records from the interview in one easy to find record, accessible to everyone in the hiring chain.
Pleekant’s founder Ramario Depass describes his startup as “A content management system for hiring employees, making life easier for recruiters. He’s identified Resumator as one of his key competitors but feels that Resumator is clunky, and has an early 2000s feel to it.
Depass’ description of Pleekant is rather fitting. It feels like a content management system where the assets are the job applicants.
We got a chance to interview Pleekant. Check out the interview below:
Pleekant is the easiest way possible for companies to track job applicants.
A product for companies hiring people and need a reliable way of tracking applicants and collaborating on deciding who to hire.I can show you better than I can tell you try it out at http://pleekant.com/
One founder and a couple early employees. The founder is Ramario Depass. He is only 18 years old and a developer. He created the whole website himself. Ramario has always been interested in start-ups and was a freelance developer. He has also made a small fortune with his domain flipping business that he no longer owns. He has often been quoted saying “I can’t have other technical co-founders, I’m too much of a control freak”.
We are based in London and are frequently present in London’s tech community in east London
The startup culture here is great. There are loads of thriving tech startups in London’s TechCity. There is a Google Campus/incubator in central London that usually hosts many networking events and offers office space for startups.
We solve a problem for any company trying to hire great talent. Many companies have to waste time creating online application forms for their job positions or they have to use another applicant tracking system like, The Resumator. The main problem with system like the Resumator is they are too complex. They have too many features and are overpriced.
Our secret sauce is networking, whether it is online or in person. We connect with recruiter themselves and respond to all emails we receive.
One dilemma I’ve encountered as a founder is having to decide to do it on my own. I did have a co-founder but, I felt I had to do this by myself. We were both technical co-founders and had too many differing views. Also, he was just an asshole and you have to make sure your co-founder is someone you would hang out with.
One of our challenges was getting our first 100 users. It required a lot of networking and social media. Also, trying to gauge our pricing structure has been quite difficult. We’ve decided to implement a pay for what you use type system.
World domination! Just kidding. Our focus now is scaling, we are growing quicker than we expected and have required more server space after a couple of crashes. We want all recruiter to use our service because we actually believe we can make life’s easier
