Walk Thru’s Made Easy With Israeli Startup WalkMe

By a show of hands how many people out there have “walk thru” still on their to-do list. Everyone wants to do a great walk thru for their company, business or startup but many people have the hardest time getting this project off the ground. Either they don’t think they have access to the resources to create great “walk thru’s” or they don’t think they can afford it.

Well a startup in Tel Aviv called WalkMe is about to solve both of those problems for everyone.

No matter how easy or complex your task is, WalkMe wants to provide you with the tool to create an easy step-by-step “Walk thru” guide to everything.

Walkme is a simple to use plugin. Once you have it installed you just move about your screen in the natural steps it takes to do whatever process you want to teach. As you begin to complete each step you write what the step is, how to do it and add your text balloon and move on to the next step.

You can easily create “walk thru” instructions while you’re creating your WalkMe walk thru.

Anything from how to complete an order, to how to change your password, can easily be explained using Walkme. If you want to show someone an easy to use trick on your own website, you can create a WalkMe “walk thru”. Basically if you can do the task you want to teach, and if you can use a mouse, than you’re in business.

We got a chance to talk to the team from WalkMe about their easy to use tool. Check out the interview below:

What is WalkMe?

WalkMe, the world’s first interactive online guidance system, enables all online publishers and ISV’s to create interactive on-screen “Walk-Thrus” that assist end-users to quickly and easily complete even the most complex tasks. Users receive clear and error-proof on-screen instructions, displayed as sequential balloon hints within the website or app, while they perform the actual process from start to finish. Think of it as if you are sitting right next to your users, guiding them through each task, step-by-step, on any site platform.

Who are the founders and what are their backgrounds?

Rafi Sweary:

Rafi is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in running software companies, business development and Internet marketing.

Rafi was the co-founder and CEO of Jetro Platforms, a global provider of software delivery systems, where he managed all aspects of business activities, growing the organization from idea stage to a global provider with customers in Europe, Asia, US, and Israel. Jetro was acquired by the RDT group.

In the past few years Rafi has been involved in funding, investing, assisting and building a number of early stage companies in the area of internet, cellular and software both in his role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Ocean Assets and in a personal capacity. Rafi received his M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore in 1999 (Summa Cum Laude). Rafi received his BA in economy from Collman College.

Eyal Cohen:

Eyal has been greatly involved in the hi-tech industry with previous experience as senior product manager and system analysts at Leumi Card in Israel. He also has been product manager and developer at Intel prior to co founding WalkMe.

Eyal received his M.B.A. and B.Sc in Industrial Engineering and Management from Ben Gurion University.

Dan Adika:

Prior to co-founding WalkMe, Dan served as Team Leader and Programmer in the Israel Defense Forces. After his experience in the military, he worked as a software engineer for HP. Dan is currently leading WalkMe’s Sales Team and operations in San Francisco, CA.

Where are you based?

WalkMe is based in Tel Aviv, Israel

What is the startup culture like in Israel?

The startup culture is very young and dynamic. The connections that we make here are extensive and the knowledge and determination that the entrepreneurs here attain is phenomenal. Within the company, we like to celebrate our accomplishments with a weekly get- together on the patio and fill-in the different departments on the weekly achievements. We are proud of everyone’s work here – we are like a family and dedicate so much of our time to the best interest and success of the company, each department, and each employee.

What problem does your startup solve?

• Increase conversions and task completion

• Improve service, while slashing the cost required to support your customers

• Encourage self-service, making any online process intuitive

• Significantly reduce the time spent creating a training and support infrastructure

What is one challenge that you’ve overcome in the startup process?

Because we created a product that can be targeted to so many markets, we didn’t know where to begin focusing our market. It took us a few tries to figure out how to market our software because we are new to the market. Initially, we didn’t know who to target and what to target; so, this was our first initial tackle.

Who are your mentors and role models?

Howard Schultz – he made people change their daily routine, bringing the European coffee culture to America. That’s what we strive to do as well, here at WalkMe – make people change their daily online routine, creating a “lean-back” online experience, where users do not have to physically “lean forward”, trying to figure out how to complete a complex online process.

What’s one thing the world doesn’t know about you or your startup?

Because of limitation with marketing messaging and trying to keep things brief, people are not aware of how diverse our product is and the amount of process and markets our product can assist – internal training, support system, site-conversion tool…

What’s next for your startup?

Our next goal is to become a household name so that people are organically searching for us, knowing that WalkMe is the tool that should be used for all online processes.

We are also currently establishing our branch in San Francisco, striving to find the right people to join our team!
