Florida Startup: WUBB Wants To Be The One Social Network For Business

A Cooper City Florida company has launched a new social network called WUBB. Their mission seems to be targeted at business and very multi-faceted. If WUBB takes off it’s going to be spectacular for them however if it doesn’t it’s going to be one crazy hodge podge of social mess.

This morning WUBB described itself as “a platform for social entrepreneurs across the world that inspires, connects, communicates and manages your business and professional network by joining Entrepreneurs, Cofounders, Freelancers, Investors, Employees, Family and Friends. It is a multi-user, community-based, business networking hub where people join only to be benefited.”

The home page and dashboard look like a hybrid between Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn. Speaking of which you can login with your Facebook or LinkedIn account or create your own account.

In addition to the usual dashboard links like dashboard, profile, people and even companies, you’ll also find tabs for contests, services, projects, ideas and even domains and websites. WUBB gives you a portal to buy domain names and buy and sell websites. A little odd for a social network but most likely a revenue stream for the new company.

More after the break

There’s an element of most of the familiar social networks in WUBB. Of course you have the one click sign in from Facebook and Linked In. The “ideas” portion is like a cross between crowd sourcing good ideas and quora. The services tab is like a craigslist for services, with a little more security. Projects looks to be like an expansion of ideas.

The company said their target audience includes people who:

  •     Are looking for part-time or full-time freelance projects to make money
  •     Want to outsource high-worth projects and looking for reliable people who can meet quality and deadlines both
  •     Lack new business ideas and yet to start a new company
  •     look for potential business partners and employees to launch a start-up
  •     Already made a startup and now looking for funding and further expansion
  •     Have talents, skills to monetize their business concepts, strategies, suggestions, and ideas
  •     Are experts in suggesting unique domain names and planning revenue model of commercial websites
  •     Are looking for reliable marketplace for buying and selling websites.
  •     Need to apply for new jobs within relevant and known business circles
  •     Take interest in participating in contests or launch new contest both for designer and domain experts
  •     Want to create a solid business circle that is surrounded by talented, creative and enthusiastic individuals.
  •      need contacts, references, wishlists and then get recruited by top companies, project holders and consulting firms

Interestingly WUBB also offers a payment management system.

“Wubb is the single door to all day-to-day online activities. With it’s easy to handle payment management system one can deposit, withdraw and transfer money through their secured payment gateway. Tracking payment history is also easy. Upon first time registration the member gets 10 free wubbles (options to bid) to start with and then expand as there is the need to enhance projects and deals.”

The premise seems good hearted and I wish them the best, but this is a crowded space, LinkedIn already does it well and it appears that WUBB is trying to be too many things to too many people at once. Perhaps they are going with the Lytro model, shoot now, focus later.

On an upside I was finally able to get in a social network early enough that my username is my first name only.
