Interview With European Startup: Bookappo

Bookappo is a new European startup based in the Czech Republic. They provide an online software platform for booking and scheduling appointments using a “book now” button.

Bookappo is perfect for small businesses and even startups. The “book now” button can allow small businesses to let customers check availability and timing and then book their appointment off of the company’s website or Facebook page. The customer side dashboard allows users of book now to easily create their own booking form, email reminders and calendar.

The company has also introduced a mobile version that is accessible from an iPad, iPhone or Android powered device which makes it easy for anyone to set up appointment calendars or book appointments while on the go.

Everyone starts off with a free 30 day trial of Bookappo and then after that it’s just $19 for the lite version and $39 for the pro version. After looking over both offerings the only significant difference between lite and pro is the ability to manage the appointment schedules of “unlimited” employees. That feature is included in the pro version only.

We got a chance to talk with the guys from Bookappo in the interview below:

What is Bookappo?

Bookappo is an Online Appointment Scheduling and Business Managing Software for small businesses. It enables clients to book appointments online from Facebook and websites through a BookNow button. It is highly customizable – For instance, users can create their own booking form  and email reminders. There is a clearly organized calendar, which for example supports multiple staff view (Day and Week), scheduling of recurring appointments and Drag&Drop and Copy/Paste for easier appointment management.  CRM is also included and with its help the user can track client appointment history or collect various client details. Accessibility from iPad, iPhone and Android mobile devices is also an unseparable part of the software.

Who are the founders and what are their backgrounds?

There are two founders – Jan Svoboda and Jiri Dusek. Both are college educated computer engineers with years of experience from both software development and business.

Where are you based?

We are based in the central part of Europe in Czech Republic where we already have one successful product called smsDiary. (www.smsdiary.cz) Its profit is mainly used for funding of Bookappo.

What’s the startup scene/culture like where you’re based?

Startups in Europe are not such a hot and debated topic as it is for instance in the US, but it is definitely getting better and more competitive as more and more groups and other media are starting to show interest in them.

What problem does BookAppo solve?

We are delaing with the everyday problems of small businesses that use any kind of appointment booking. Bookappo offers an easy online appointment booking which eliminates phone calls and therefore saves time. We reduce no-shows through email and sms reminders, plus we encourage users to take advantage of their Facebook pages and other modern technologies. This helps them interract with their clients and grow business.

What’s your secret sauce?

Probably our positive attitude towards work and the thinking process behind it. When we see a problem, we are looking for solutions, not excuses why it can’t be done. We like to see results of what we do. Being in contact with our clients is also one of our main strengths, we are open to discuss any suggestions and add important features on the fly.

What’s one dilemma you’ve encountered in the startup process?

We are dealing with or solving issues on almost daily basis, which is natural for almost all businesses. At the beginning, one of the decisions we had to make was for instance which technology we are going to use.

What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in the startup process?

We have set a term when we wanted to oficially launch Bookappo and we succeeded in accomplishing it. We didn’t want to lengthen the process.  Our next challenge is making Bookappo profitable by the end of this year.

What’s next for BookAppo?

People are showing interest in Bookappo all over the world and that’s why we are working on other than English language localizations. We will continue to implement features that our clients request. Also, we will be intensively working on marketing.
