Three young entrepreneurs in Ft. Lauderdale have teamed up to launch an innovative new social mobile startup called MyNyte. The focus is to answer the question “What are you doing tonight” and then team up with your like-minded friends to do the same thing. Essentially, the app helps eliminate the hours of planning, phone tag, text tag, email tag, voicemail tag and any other kind of tag you can play as you plan your evening.

Tyrese Tweets about MyNyte

This app is pretty hot, how hot? Well Tyrese for one has been tweeting about it. MyNyte’s co-founder Jimmy Caylor says that Tyrese isn’t the only celebrity that’s checked out the app. A social mobile startup like this could not have picked a better market to introduce itself in as south Florida. We all know that Miami, South Beach and Fort Lauderdale are the hubs for night-time entertainment.

The three guys that founded MyNyte are no strangers to nightlife and the partying scene. Through their own personal experiences and the experiences of their friends they’ve made sure that MyNyte has everything taken care of.

Planning your night- MyNyte helps you scout the perfect places. Whether you’re looking for an upscale night of martinis, cocktails and lounging or you’re looking for the hottest clubs with the best people MyNyte uses your profile to match you up with the action.

More after the break

If MyNyte gets it wrong or it’s an off night at the location you went to, no worries with MyNyte you can keep up with your whole crew and instantly let everyone know there’s a change in plan or where you’re really going. Now when you move about the night there’s always that one guy or girl. Maybe you don’t really like them or maybe they’re having an off night. Perhaps they just broke up with their boyfriend or girlfriend and they’ve turned into Debbie downer. Well MyNyte has you covered there too. You can temporarily (or permanently) mark them as a frenemy and they won’t get your next update. Let them stay at the last spot maybe it will turn into good luck for them.

MyNyte incorporates a quick “group text” like feature that the app calls “bumps”. Using bumps you keep your whole crew up to date with text messages that go through the app (and again your Frenemies aren’t in there).

MyNyte also features what seems to be an event page for your night. You can see the event you’re going to, who is already there and who’s coming that way you’ll know if y our best buddy from back home has arrived in town or maybe that person  you had a fight with last week. Always be prepared, MyNyte has you covered there.

While a lot of these features sound familiar, from across different apps MyNyte integrates them all. Of course any novice iPhone user knows that Apple doesn’t allow apps to play nice with each other so rather than managing your night with four different apps, MyNyte consolidates all the apps into one and you need just one tool the whole night.

So how did MyNyte come about, we got a chance to talk with co-founder Jimmy Caylor about MyNyte.

Briefly describe MyNyte.

MyNyte is a FREE location-based mobile social network, with traditional web support. MyNyte is the first and only social media platform designed to help you go out. Instead of wasting time texting, emailing, Facebooking and calling all your friends, you can simply use MyNyte to put together a group and say where to be and when. Because MyNyte knows where people plan to go, it can tell you what club will be popular BEFORE the night starts–so you don’t miss the action. Also, MyNyte is the first platform that can not only help you keep your friends informed; it can also help you avoid “that guy” with our Frenemy feature.

Who are the founders?

Mike Bosso, Jimmy Caylor and Chase Zimmerman

Is MyNyte ready for national use? Or is it just South Florida now?

MyNyte has a national place database with over 15 million points of interest. Our promotional efforts are centered in South Florida today, but the product is ready to use anywhere in the USA.

How did you get Tyrese to check it out?

Tyrese heard about MyNyte and loved the concept! His tweet was very beneficial. Thanks to him, we have had a few more celebrities tweet about MyNyte. We thank them all for their continued support!

Describe your target user.

For our launch, we’re very focused on college students and people just entering the workforce. MyNyteoffers the greatest benefit to people who go out the most. Anyone who goes out more than once per week is a perfect prospect for our product.

The app is set up so you can share your evening plans with your friends? Is this via social networking? Or some other platform?

MyNyte is a social network because the functionality is built on a social graph. Unlike most social networks though, MyNyte is about getting together and going out in real space. We think there has been some really great work in telling people where you are now, but we believe that’s not enough. We want to make it easy to get everyone out together. We also want to provide an innovative way of making new connections in the real world. We want our users to see real-time attendance of other users compounded with “Who’s Coming” users, all accompanied by viewable profiles and guy-girl ratios.

Is this your first startup (some info I saw on the net suggests you may have some other projects either up and running or in the works)?

This is our first startup in the social world. MyNyte was formed as a solution to a problem that many face when trying to make plans…where to go! We realized no one wants to go out with their friends and end up at an empty bar, especially after paying a cover to get in. Fast-forward to now and we have evolved that idea to include much more, while simplifying the nightlife experience with fewer headaches for our users.

Do you have plans for an Android app?

Our mobile website (http://m.mynyte.com) was designed from the ground up for Android and Windows Phone. It has all the features of our iOS app, and even has the same streamlined interface. We are considering a native app for Android as well, but our initial focus for native apps is iOS based only on the higher propensity of iOS users to download and install apps.

Is this just for fun or do you have a monetization strategy?

MyNyte is fun, and our plan to monetize the product will be part of that. We’ve designed an innovative ad model that will be unobtrusive to our audience and exciting to our partners. You will hear more on this in the coming months. We simply want to make it easier for the whole world to go out and have fun.
